Does your lawn actually need an Aeration? Most likely yes. Winnipeg has a continental climate with cold winters and hot, dry summers making lawns very compact. If your lawn is thinning, firm, or has worn areas it's a good idea to get an Aeration.
How often should I get an Aeration? We recommend to the majority of our customers to get an aeration once every year. In some circumstances, the lawn will need it in spring and fall.
Purpose of an Aeration: Generates holes in the lawn allowing water, air, and fertilizer to enter the grass at the roots and loosen compacted soil.
When is the best time to get an Aeration? Spring or fall will yield the best results but doing it anytime throughout the year will also be sufficient. When done in the spring it ensures that any nutrients used on the lawn throughout the year will reap the benefits and when done in the fall ensures that your grass will absorb more water through the dry season.
